Henryk Bakalarczyk was born in 1948 in Poznań.
In 1976 he graduated from Economic Academy in Poznan and at the
same time he began to study sculpture, painting and artistic smithery
under his father professor Jan Bakalarczyk - an outstanding artist,
sculptor and lecturer in Academy of Art in Poznań.
A Ministry of Culture and Art. and Polish Sculptors Association
confered him in 1983 a title of artist.
Henryk Bakalarczyk whose art nickname is Gida had his debut 1983
in Joachim Juhr Gallery - Europacenter, in West Berlin. He
was also connected with other galleries like : Art Gallery A.Kareńska
- Poznań, Gallery of Contemporary Art in Gdańsk, Art Gallery
Richter in Berlin for many years.
Since that time he has participated in many local and foreign exhibitions.
In 1997 Henryk Bakalarczyk and his wife Anna started their own gallery
"Gida" at the airport Poznań-Ławica. Apart from sculptures
and paintings, the artist suggests unconventional possibilities
in decoration interiors and gardens.
Remaining faithful to the motto "art
belongs to life", he tries to beautify life with his
works. Gida in a special way combines good taste, impression of
art. with good proffesional craftmanship of art.
Creativness and constancy the increases Gida's technology knowledge
create unlimited possibilities not only in design but in realization
as well. Therefore his works can pass barriers of epoches and historical
styles, but still remain individual and modern. Gida's abilities
of connecting ascetic forms with astonishing expressions, create
a wide possibility of acceptance with his customers satisfy different
tastes.
Art Gallery "Gida" apart from offering Gida works, offers
a wide choice works of the other artist.
There are over 400 sculptures and 150 paintings in muzeums, galleries
and private collections almost in all European countries and in
Singapore, Japan, USA, Canada, Brasil, Australia, Israel and South
Africa.
A list of Gida's work which decorate the most prestige places is
very long: Offices of Polish President A. Kwaśniewski; Rusia President
Władimir Putin, Germany President Johannes Rau, Pope J.Paul II and
others.
The most important works are: "Scenes from airport life"
- Airport Poznań/Ławica,"Models" - Hollywood Company.
Henryk Bakalarczyk is a member of Polish Sculptors Association;
a lifelong member of the International Biographical Association/IBA/
in Cambridge and an initiator and first President of Kiwanis
International in Poznań.
